Dock & Freshwater Canal
Still Hammock overlooks one of Cape Coral’s scenic freshwater canals. Whether you’re enjoying your morning coffee, watching the local wildlife, or casting a fishing line, the waterfront offers a peaceful place to unwind.
Please use caution around the dock, seawall, and water’s edge.
Children must be supervised by a responsible adult at all times near the canal.
Swimming, diving, or jumping into the canal is not permitted.
Florida waterways are natural habitats for wildlife, including alligators and turtles. Never feed, approach, or disturb wildlife.
Boat docking, launching, or securing vessels to the dock requires prior approval from your host.
Fishing at Still Hammock
Bring your fishing rods and enjoy freshwater fishing right from the dock!
Cape Coral’s freshwater canal system supports a variety of fish, including:
Largemouth Bass – A popular Florida sportfish and a favorite among freshwater anglers.
Bluegill & Sunfish – Smaller freshwater fish that can be fun for younger anglers.
Tilapia – Commonly found in Southwest Florida’s freshwater waterways.
Catfish – Bottom-dwelling fish found in local canals.
Cichlids – Colorful freshwater fish, including the Mayan cichlid, found throughout the region.
While these species are found in Cape Coral’s freshwater canal system, the exact fish present behind Still Hammock have not been independently verified. Fishing conditions and catches vary by season, weather, and water conditions.
To help protect the canal and its wildlife:
We encourage responsible catch-and-release fishing, consistent with applicable regulations.
Never leave fishing line, hooks, bait containers, or other debris behind.
Please keep fishing equipment clear of walkways and pool areas.
Children must be supervised while fishing.
Florida fishing regulations apply, and a valid freshwater fishing license may be required.
For current fishing regulations and licensing information, visit myfwc.com.
Florida Weather & Storm Safety
Southwest Florida is known for its sunshine, but afternoon thunderstorms can develop quickly, particularly during the warmer months.
Exit the pool, dock, and other exposed outdoor areas immediately if you hear thunder or see lightning.
Remain indoors until at least 30 minutes after the last thunder.
Please secure loose outdoor belongings when strong winds or storms are expected.
During severe weather, remain indoors and follow any emergency instructions or official advisories.
Need Assistance?
If you notice anything unusual with the pool, screens, dock, or waterfront area, please contact Nellie rather than attempting repairs or adjusting equipment yourself.
We hope you enjoy the sunshine, waterfront views, and relaxed Florida lifestyle that make Still Hammock such a special place to stay!
